Thanksgiving Break

My Thanksgiving break was very fun this year. Wednesday after school we had basketball practice. We ran a lot, but it was for our own good because I ate sooo much this past weekend. Wednesday afternoon I got to hang with Holly who I hadn't seen in forever because of her being at college. We hung out at my house, then went into Adrian and took pictures with my skeleton for Anatomy. It was amazing! Wednesday night I went to my friend Celia's in Blissfield and watched "The Proposal." It was a good movie and we had a great time. I came home and packed, then we left around seven in the morning for my grandma's in Mesick, MI. We had a huge lunch and then me and my cousin literally layed on my grandma's bed and died. It was so peaceful! :) We texted ChaCha, which is this business ran place where you can ask it anything and it will tell you the answer. We were laughing pretty hard and then she drove us into Cadillac to see "New Moon!" It was such a good movie. I'm an Edward fan, but in the movie I definitely loved Taylor Lautner! I spent the night at my Aunt Dawn's and got to sleep in for the first time in years. Saturday my cousin Trisha picked me up and we ate at McDonalds, then went shopping without money, and then went back up to meet everyone else at my grandma's. We got the lovely idea to dye my hair a tint of red because we were bored, then we went back to Cadillac to get it cut. We got back to Mesick again late after more fast food and played around on the computer. After a while we watched "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," then fell asleep. We left for home early Saturday morning then I saw "New Moon" again with Holly shortly after unpacking. Saturday night I went to hang out with my friend Taylor from Blissfield at her house and we just talked and laughed forever. Sunday morning I went to church, then I had work, then I had play practice, and then I had to leave early for basketball practice. Sunday night after practice I spent getting everything around for my first game this past monday! It was very busy, but I had a great long weekend.

M.I.S.; here we come!

This past week our girls' and boys' cross country teams made it to states! What we worked for all season long finally was a reality. It's not an easy task to do. We worked from day one and all of us got so much better. We were so excited when we found out we got second place at regionals to advance to the state meet this Saturday. It wasn't just one of us who made this happen; it was a team contribution. All of us had to run good for us to qualify. It was terrible weather this past Saturday, but we put it all out there and ran our hearts out to get what we wanted. It is a great feeling when I crossed that finish line knowing that not once did I hold back anything from that race. I had a rough season being injured and only running for three weeks before regionals. I was so nervous, but the time I had to work I never gave up. I had to be confident. It was an even better feeling when I knew our whole team made it to states, because that is what it's all about; giving everything you got for the team. I'm so excited to be apart of this weekend after my whole season was so upsetting. We will have so much fun and we worked so hard for it. M.I.S.; here we come!

Basketball is coming!!!

I am sooooo excited for basketball season! Cross Country has been rather depressing getting over my achilles tendonitis/strain and not getting where I wanted to be, so it makes me look forward to basketball even more! Our team is going to be great this year! This past summer we made it to the top four out of twenty four teams at team camp; it was crazy! We work so good together as a team and we know that this will make us successful in the long run. We won the league last year and we are planning to do it again this year, with Clinton probably being our toughest games. Non-league games will be hard; Coach scheduled us some different games to get us ready for our districts and regionals, but we are all ready to take it on! We are going to overcome our mistakes from last year and learn from them, so we can go on to dominate this year! :) Our wide variety of talent will come together as a team and our playing hard will turn out to be the reason we will accomplish our goals this season. I am so excited to see what our team can accomplish this year and I am looking forward to November 9th!

History of October 15

Today in history many things happened. I chose to write about the following:

1.In 1951, I Love Lucy had its television debut.
-I chose this because I have enjoyed watching I Love Lucy in the past and I think it's funny.

2. In 1860, a young girl of Westfield, New York, Grace Bedell, wrote a letter to the presidential candidate, Abraham Lincoln, saying he could better his appearance by growing a beard.
-I chose this because I think it's very interesting and if that's the reason he grew out his beard, then Grace Bedell is my hero.

3. Richard Carpenter, the pianist, singer, and composer for the music group, The Carpenters, was born on October 15, 1946.
-I chose this because I love music so much and The Carpenters are a good group.

4. In 1985, Shelley Taylor of Australia, swam the fastest swim ever with a time of 6 hours, 12 minutes, and 29 seconds around Manhatten Island.
-I chose this because I love sports and have recently gotten into swimming. To go around the Manhatten Island by swimming in that short amount of time is insanely good and I respect Taylor for this.

5. The Philadelphia Eagles played the 1st NFL game, losing to the New York Giants 56-0 in 1933.
-I chose this because I absolutely love football and for the first NFL game to take place this day is sweet. I also have been a fan of the Eagles in the past even though they lost this first game.

Goals for my senior year!

I am the type of person that has millions of goals each year. My resolutions at the beginning of the year go on forever, and I am such a competitive, determined person that I work so hard to complete every single one of them.

A major goal I have for my senior year is to graduate with a 4.0, which I still am succeeding. My grades mean a lot to me and I stress myself out working so hard, but I know it will be important for my future.

Another goal I have is coming from my failed goals of my senior year cross country season. I strained my achilles tenon the third day of practice and ever since I have not been able to completely try my hardest. I kept running for a while, not doing so good because I wasn't able to work to my full ability. I stopped running from almost rupturing it and have done viscious bike work-outs and physical therapy so I can get to where I want to be by basketball. Therefore, my goal is to gain all my strength back and possibly still make 1st team all-league again (October 14) and in the near future, if I am actually healed and can run, work my butt off to qualify for states again. I want to help my team as much as I can so we can still possibly win league and go to states too. My goals in basketball is to help my team win league, districts, and regionals because I know that we are good enough to do so. I hope to have a better attitude this year as well as be over 80 % from the free throw line. I want to make 1st team all-league and all-county this year again as well. I have worked all off-season so I hope to be strong going into my senior year and be a great team captain and teammate. For track, I want to get the school record for the 800 m run, which would obviously make me beat my personal record. I also want to be first in the league and qualify for states again. Another goal is to beat my personal record in the mile and maybe run that at higher invitationals as well instead of focusing JUST on my 800 m run.

Lastly, I am accepted at the college I want to go to, but my goal is to play basketball there and possibly run track and cross country. I have never wanted anything more than to play sports in college. I also want to get all my scholarships done and do the best I can to save money for college. Figuring out what I want to major in would help as well! :)

Through this all, I still want to enjoy my senior year and my last year of high school I know it will go really fast and I'll miss it. My goals mean a lot to me and I hope that with my hard work ethic, I can complete them all.
